MotoGP takes over London with massive Outernet fan activation
It is absolutely wild to see MotoGP move beyond the circuit and plant its flag right in the heart of London. This past Sunday, more than 20,000 fans flooded the Outernet entertainment venue to catch the Dutch Grand Prix on massive floor-to-ceiling screens. It is a stunning way to bring the speed and sound of the championship to thousands of people who might otherwise never encounter these machines.
This isn't just a one-off event, either. With the Silverstone team on-site and another activation scheduled for the 6th of August, the series is clearly betting big on building anticipation for the British Grand Prix. The scale is impressive; while London buzzed, another 2,500 fans gathered in Aragon for their own watch party, proving just how much energy there is behind these shared experiences.
The numbers coming out of the actual Dutch Grand Prix itself are equally staggering, with 190,000 spectators at Assen and another 160,000 at the TT Festival. As Kelly Brittain, Managing Director of Global Marketing, put it: “Seeing more than 20,000 people come together in the centre of London to experience MotoGP is a fantastic demonstration of how we’re evolving the way fans engage with the championship.” It is clear the sport is pushing hard to be more accessible, and honestly, seeing that many fans in the middle of a city feels like a beautiful step forward.
