Here’s the thing, Bristol Motor Speedway is ready to take center stage as The Chase presented by Mobil 1 descends upon “The Last Great Colosseum.” This legendary, high-banked, 0.533-mile concrete short track is about to witness some wild racing across three different divisions. Both the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series are gearing up to contest Race 3 of The Chase, while the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series opens its seven-race Chase right on Thursday night.
Looking back at defending champions returning to the venue, Christopher Bell rolls back in as the reigning Night Race winner, and Layne Riggs claimed victory in last season’s Truck race at this demanding venue. Teams are facing specific tire allocations across the board. For the NASCAR Cup Series event on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA Network, competitors get thirteen total sets—ten new sets for the race, two for practice, and one for qualifying that transfers over to the race. Meanwhile, qualifying is canceled and the starting lineup is set by the rule book for the Cup machines.
Dropping down to the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, those racers hit the track on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on The CW. Their weekend allotment sits at five total sets of tires, split as three new sets for the race, one for practice, and one for qualifying that also transfers to the race. Their starting lineup is similarly set by the rule book.
Finally, the Thursday night opener for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on FS1. The trucks will manage four total sets of tires—two new sets for the race, one for practice, and one for qualifying that transfers to the race, with qualifying also canceled and the starting lineup determined by the rule book.
Race week essentials like entry lists, pit stalls, practice lap averages, lap times, and stage results will unfold as the weekend progresses at the colosseum.
