It is remarkable, truly. Nick Tandy, a man who has conquered nearly every corner of the IMSA landscape, finds himself standing before the final gate: the 1.645-mile Detroit Street Circuit. While he has already secured wins at iconic venues like Daytona, Sebring, and Long Beach, this specific street layout remains the last checkbox on his list to complete a full set of victories at every current track on the calendar.
He has the pace to do it. Tandy already holds the track record here, a blistering 1 minute, 5.390 seconds set in 2024. Now piloting the No. 77 AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, he and teammate Harry King are in fine form, sitting third in the GTD PRO standings after back-to-back podiums. With the familiar green "Rexy" livery making its return to the paddock, the pieces are falling into place for what would be a historic weekend. The 100-minute sprint goes green this Saturday, May 30.
