The Chevrolet Grand Prix arrives at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is back at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and the intensity is palpable. With 33 machines set to battle on this demanding 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course, the championship margins are razor-thin—just 55 points in LMP2, 60 in GTD PRO, and 157 in GTD currently separate the leaders from second place.
The LMP2 class takes center stage once again, headlining the weekend with 10 ORECA LMP2 07 entries. Keep an eye on the No. 52 Bryan Herta Autosport with PR1/Mathiasen entry, which features a fascinating cameo: none other than Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing’s Ricky Taylor is stepping in to co-drive. It’s a weekend where the home crowd will be looking for glory, with half of the LMP2 field featuring Canadian drivers like Phil Fayer, John Farano, Tobi Lutke, Misha Goikhberg, and Chris Cumming.
In the GT ranks, the narrative of homecomings and fresh faces is just as strong. Robert Wickens makes his return to the cockpit in the No. 36 DXDT Racing Corvette Z06 GT3.R, while Roman De Angelis joins Eduardo “Dudu” Barrichello in the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo. With the GTD PRO class title fight heating up, it will be fascinating to see if the Chevrolet Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports entries can overturn the current lead held by the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
