What to watch as the 2025/26 Formula E season intensifies

The second half of the 2025/26 Formula E season is shaping up to be an absolute thriller. We are heading back to the tropical streets of Sanya for Round 11, a venue that has been absent since the 2018/19 season. It is a wild circuit, and with only eight drivers on the current grid having any experience there, chaos is a real possibility—if you recall, that last visit saw nine cars retire due to crashes and mechanical failures.

Then there is the Tokyo double-header. The city has already cemented itself as a jewel in the calendar, but this year it gets a massive twist: both races will be held as night events, marking the first time the series has run after dark on Japanese streets. It is the site of Nissan’s historic home win last year, courtesy of Oliver Rowland, and the atmosphere should be electric.

In the manufacturers' battle, it is currently a two-horse race. Jaguar TCS Racing leads the way with 208 points, sitting 24 ahead of Porsche. While Jaguar has been dominant in Berlin and Monaco, Porsche has hit a rough patch, taking home only eight points in Monaco. With such a slim margin, momentum could swing either way at any moment.

Finally, the championship fight remains impossible to predict. Mitch Evans currently leads the standings with a 19-point buffer over Oliver Rowland, who arrives in Sanya fresh off a Monaco win. Edoardo Mortara and Pascal Wehrlein are also right in the mix, and with less than 30 points separating the top four, there is everything to play for as the series prepares for its first-ever official partnership appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
