That is what you call a proper racing driver's mindset. MP Motorsport's Gabriele Minì dragged his machine from 13th on the Feature Race grid up to seventh in Madrid, pulling off moves that can only be described as absolute sends.
After a bruising Qualifying session buried him down the order, the Italian knew conservatism was off the table. "Either you do this or you go home with regrets. That's not what I want to do. I prefer to crash into a wall trying than not trying at all," Minì said.
His race was pure chaos from the lights. Caught in a sandwich at the start and forced to check up, he managed to claw back ground before executing some properly brave overtakes out of La Monumental at Turn 13. A well-timed stint extension offered a shot at cracking the top four, but cruel timing intervened when a Safety Car dropped him back to eighth, forcing another desperate lunge for seventh. Braking up to 15 metres later than usual, the Alpine Academy talent caught rivals completely off guard simply because nobody expected a move from there.
That fighting spirit paid off where it counts in the standings. Minì sits third in the Drivers' Standings, trimming six points off leader Nikola Tsolov to leave the gap at 24 points heading into the final rounds of the 2026 campaign. With Alex also closing in fast, the math is simple.
Fixing one-lap pace is the clear priority for Baku, where an additional Qualifying and Feature Race await. But the MP driver heads to Azerbaijan with nothing to lose and every intention of squeezing everything out of the beast underneath him.
