Unfortunately, Sunday morning brought bad news for the #87 rider. A trip to the medical centre for an assessment revealed worsening symptoms stemming from a broken fifth metacarpal in his left hand. The team confirmed that Gardner originally sustained the injury during his FP2 crash.
With those issues flaring up on Sunday morning, the decision was made that he will miss the final day of the EICMA Italian Round entirely. It is a brutal end to the weekend for the competitive Australian, who now faces a recovery period to get that left hand healed properly before getting back on the beast.
