The 2026 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship hits Italy this weekend as the Cremona Circuit hosts WorldSBK, WorldSSP, and WorldSPB. With only visits to Estoril and Jerez remaining after this stop (though WorldSPB heads straight to Jerez), the EICMA Italian Round brings a flurry of potential title celebrations.
Nicolo Bulega of the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad stands as the clear champion-elect, and he can drop the suffix as early as Race 1. To seal the deal on Saturday, he needs to outscore teammate Iker Lecuona by 15 points. If that does not happen, Sunday offers another path, requiring a three-point gain over the #7 across Race 1 and the Tissot Superpole Race. Alternatively, securing 40 points across all three races guarantees the title for Bulega regardless of what Lecuona achieves.
Meanwhile, the Barni Spark Racing Team could lock down the Independent Teams’ Championship during Race 1 on home soil. Marco Barnabo’s outfit enters the weekend holding a 168-point advantage over the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team, needing that gap to finish Race 1 at more than 161 points. This means if Yari Montella and Alvaro Bautista combine to score just six points fewer than Sam Lowes, the crown belongs to Barni Ducati.
Over in WorldSSP, every single championship is mathematically ready to be decided. Albert Arenas of the AS BLU CRU Racing Team can claim the Riders’ Championship by leaving Cremona with a 101-point cushion over his rivals. That requires outscoring Valentin Debise of EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory by 31 points across both races, beating Can Oncu of Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing by six points, and avoiding any points loss to Jaume Masia of Orelac Racing VerdNatura. Tom Booth-Amos of PTR Triumph Factory Racing and Roberto Garcia of GMT94 Yamaha also remain in mathematical contention, but they need to outscore Arenas by at least 46 and 47 points respectively. Yamaha can secure the Manufacturers’ Championship by outscoring Ducati by 29 points, while the AS BLU CRU Racing Team can clinch the Teams’ Championship if they expand their current 150-point lead out to 181 points over their rivals.
Finally, David Salvador of Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI has a shot at the World Sportbike crown on Sunday. The #38 rider holds a 30-point lead over Xavi Artigas of MTM Kawasaki and needs a 50 or 51-point margin to wrap things up with a round to spare. To do this, Salvador must outscore Artigas by 20 or 21 points, hold his ground against teammate Antonio Torres, and avoid losing more than 24 points to Carter Thompson of Team BrCorse. Several other competitors remain mathematically alive, but they must outscore Salvador by a minimum of 34 points at Cremona to keep their title hopes alive heading to Jerez.
