That said, the situation at Honda HRC Castrol just took another difficult turn with the announcement that Joan Mir will be absent from the upcoming Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix. Unfortunately, the medical team has spoken, and health simply has to come first.
Here's the thing: Mir has been battling a variety of symptoms impacting his energy and performance for several months now. Things got worse recently with an increase in severity that ultimately leaves him unable to compete on track. We already saw him forced to retire from the San Marino GP and sit out the Austrian GP, and it is clear this machine of a rider is dealing with something genuinely troubling beneath the helmet.
To figure out what is actually happening, Mir has undergone a series of tests at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona under the direct care of MotoGP Medical Director Dr Angel Charte and his team. Yet, despite all the examinations, the tests remain inconclusive. The root cause is still unconfirmed at this time, which has to be an incredibly frustrating ordeal for the rider.

Because those symptoms persist, Dr Charte has laid down the law: strict rest and rehabilitative therapy for the next 15 days. That medical verdict means Mir is officially recommended against competing in the next two rounds in Japan and Indonesia. His condition will continue to be closely monitored by the medical team, with further updates to follow after more tests.
Now, attention turns to the garage itself. Honda Racing Corporation has announced they will confirm his replacement in due course. For now, we simply wish Joan a full and proper recovery away from the pressure of the paddock.
