Now, the Formula 1 season rolls on to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where machines will take to the historic streets of Baku. Teams and drivers are looking at another warm and dry weekend, with temperatures expected to peak at 28C. That said, it will not be an entirely straightforward affair, as high wind speeds across the track sessions are ready to mess with aerodynamics and shake up how drivers tackle the circuit.
Thursday, September 24 kicks things off with FP1 and FP2 under warm conditions. Temperatures will range from a nighttime low of 22.5C up to a daytime high of 28C, while the maximum temperature expected is 28 Celsius and the minimum is 22 Celsius. Rain is entirely off the table with a 0% chance of precipitation, ensuring a dry track. But watch out for the wind: it will average 17.6 kph with brutal gusts hitting up to 57.6 kph, which is bound to influence on-track dynamics. To top it all off, track temperatures are forecasted to reach a blistering 49C, adding a serious challenge for teams and drivers.
Friday, September 25 brings FP3 and qualifying with generally favourable weather for racing. Clear skies will rule the day with a 0% chance of rain. Temperatures are expected to range from 20C to 24C, with the maximum hitting 24 Celsius and the minimum sitting at 20 Celsius. The wind remains a factor, averaging 24.5 kph and kicking up gusts reaching a wild 64.8 kph that may slightly impact aerodynamics. Meanwhile, a warm track temperature of 41C should provide some good grip conditions for the field.
Saturday, September 26 delivers the main event, and race day looks to feature favourable weather overall. Daytime temperatures will range from 20C to 26C, with the maximum temperature expected at 26 Celsius and the minimum at 20 Celsius. Precipitation is once again completely out of the picture at 0%. Winds will average 15.5 kph coming from the north, with gusts up to 43.2 kph. Combined with a maximum track temperature of 43C, it all adds up to dry and warm conditions making for excellent racing out on the asphalt.
