Aston Martin finds its rhythm at the Ardennes rollercoaster
The FIA World Endurance Championship is currently delivering some of the most intense, unpredictable racing on the planet, and Aston Martin THOR Team just proved it by snatching a career-best fourth place at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps. It was a wild ride that saw the #007 Valkyrie Hypercar, piloted by Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble, fight from 13th back into the fray to chase a podium spot against heavyweights from BMW, Ferrari, and Toyota.
After a perfectly timed safety car intervention, Gamble found himself in a frantic four-way battle for the runner-up position, pulling off a beautiful move on Kamui Kobayashi’s Toyota along the Kemmel Straight. The result is monumental for the Valkyrie program—it marks four consecutive points-scoring events and comes just in time for the 10-14 June 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team finished just five seconds behind the race winner, a margin that highlights exactly how tight this championship has become.
It wasn't a perfect day for the brand, however. The sister #009 Valkyrie, driven by Alex Riberas and Marco Sørensen, was looking strong until a high-speed incident on the Kemmel Straight ended their race in the barriers. Despite the disaster, the mood is undeniably high. As Team Principal Ian James noted, witnessing so many different manufacturers fighting within the top six is proof that this era of sportscar racing is something truly special.
