The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship arrived at the Cremona Circuit for Round 10 of the 2026 campaign, delivering a historic Italian weekend capped off by a championship crown. Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) officially wrapped up the title with a trio of P2 finishes, while teammate Iker Lecuona romped to a first WorldSBK hat-trick in a truly wild weekend of racing.
Bulega secured his championship moment through consistency rather than outright wins. Ironically, despite taking P2 in Tissot Superpole and following it up with three P2 finishes across the races, it marked arguably his toughest weekend of the season in terms of pure pace, yet easily his most rewarding. After enduring the trials of Moto3 and Moto2, then rebuilding his career through WorldSSP and WorldSBK, Bulegas has officially gone full circle—securing a ride with VR46 Racing Team in MotoGP next year.
While Bulega took the title, Lecuona stole the show by joining an elite club. The #7 rider dominated the entire weekend from the very first moments of Free Practice 1 through to Race 2, adding three stunning wins to his tally and joining the likes of Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team), Jonathan Rea, Toprak Razgatlioglu, Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), and Bulega as a WorldSBK hat-trick scorer.
Further down the grid, rookie Alberto Surra (Motocorsa Racing) finally broke through for his first World Superbike podium. After showing flashes of speed on the Panigale V4 R machine, he bounced back from a crash in Race 1—where he had been running in third—to claim his maiden rostrum spot in the Tissot Superpole Race, making him the tenth different rider to stand on the rostrum this season.
Honda also found a reason to smile as Jake Dixon (Honda HRC) delivered their best result of the year. Overcoming a crash in Superpole that forced him to start 18th in Race 1, Dixon fought his way to ninth, repeated the P9 feat in the Superpole Race after starting 17th following Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) being declared unfit, and then converted a third-row start in Race 2 into a brilliant sixth-place finish.
It was a rollercoaster for Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team), who endured four separate crashes across Friday and Saturday—including two in FP and two in Race 1—before bouncing back on Sunday to finish fourth in the Superpole Race and take a podium in Race 2 ahead of Surra. He now sits 43 points clear of Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) and 50 clear of Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) in the battle for third.
For Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), however, it was a weekend to forget at a track where he previously swept the board. Managing only 19th in Superpole and finishing down in P14, P11, and P12, the Italian endured a tough outing while teammate Miguel Oliveira showed stronger pace early in Race 2 before crashing out of the top five.
