Cadillac eyes historic Le Mans glory 60 years after Ford
It is difficult to ignore the historical weight hanging over Cadillac as it heads to the Circuit de la Sarthe for the 94th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sixty years after Ford famously toppled Ferrari to claim the first win for an American manufacturer, Cadillac is hunting its own slice of immortality. The V-Series.R has shown blistering speed, locking out the front row just 12 months ago, yet that elusive victory remains out of reach.
This time, the GM-owned brand is pulling out all the stops. They are fielding two full-time Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA machines—the #12 with Will Stevens, Norman Nato, and Louis Delétraz, and the #38 shared by Earl Bamber, Jack Aitken, and Le Mans native Sébastien Bourdais—alongside a guest entry from Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing. That third car, the #101, will be piloted by Ricky Taylor, Jordan Taylor, and Filipe Albuquerque, bolstering a squad that boasts significant past class and overall experience at this brutal track.
After facing misfortune at Imola and Spa-Francorchamps despite promising pace, the team is desperate to convert their potential into a result. With an upgraded aero configuration designed to thrive in thick traffic, they are well-prepared for the fight. As Sébastien Bourdais put it, the team has put in a "colossal effort," and now, the moment of truth arrives at the big one.
