Cal Crutchlow returns to Castrol Honda LCR for the Italian GP
It is happening again. Castrol Honda LCR has confirmed that Cal Crutchlow will step in to ride the Honda RC213V for the Italian GP at Mugello, filling the seat left by the injured Johann Zarco.
This is a reunion with some serious history. Crutchlow, who raced for the team from 2015 to 2020, delivered 12 podiums and three wins during his tenure. Most notably, he secured the team's first-ever MotoGP victory in Brno in 2016, a result that also marked the first win for a British rider in the class since 1981. It is a beautiful bit of symmetry to see them back together.
While the team has expressed their gratitude for Crutchlow’s willingness to jump back into the machine, their focus remains on their regular rider. Johann Zarco is set to undergo surgery in the coming weeks, and the entire squad has sent him their full support as he begins his recovery.
