Conor daly and honda join dreyer & reinbold racing for full-time indycar return in 2027

Here is the news: Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is coming back to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES full-time, and they are bringing none other than along for the ride. On September 5, the team announced a multiyear agreement that puts Daly behind the wheel of a brand-new, full-time No. 24 entry starting in 2027.

That is not even the half of it. The organization is also switching to Honda engines for the 2027 campaign, marking a reunion with the manufacturer they previously used in the series from 2005 to 2011. DRR CEO Derek Reinbold made it clear why they locked down the -area native, pointing to how the veteran driver prepares, works with engineers, and extracts speed from a machine.

“Conor has raced for us at Indianapolis, so we know how he prepares, how he works with engineers and how much he gets out of a car,” Derek Reinbold stated. “He has shown for years that he can win the Indianapolis 500, and our job is to give him a car that lets him do it.”

Daly brings plenty of experience to this ambitious project, boasting 133 NTT INDYCAR SERIES starts dating back to his series debut in the 2013 Indy 500. His resume includes a best series finish of second at in 2016 and a pole position at in 2020. He has already built a history with this squad, making two Indy 500 starts with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in 2024 and 2026 where he finished 10th and 12th respectively while leading 26 laps.

“I am extremely grateful to get back to full-time INDYCAR racing with my friends at Dreyer and Reinbold Racing and Honda,” Daly said.

This full-time comeback is a massive deal for the organization. DRR has not competed full-time in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES since 2012, when Oriol Servia drove their lone entry. To secure this grid spot, the team announced on July 22 that they purchased one NTT INDYCAR SERIES charter from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
