Corvette seals hard-fought win at Le Mans in LMGT3
It is honestly difficult to fathom how they pulled it off. Starting from 17th on the 25-strong grid, the #33 Corvette of TF Sport methodically fought its way to the front to claim victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a proper masterclass in strategy, starting with Ben Keating—fresh off an elbow injury—who held the car in the fight against higher-rated rivals before handing over to Nicky Catsburg and Jonny Edgar to finish the job.
Edgar was nothing short of unbelievable in his closing five stints, driving a machine that didn't put a foot wrong all race. They finished ahead of the #78 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus, which saw Jack Hawksworth, Hadrien David, and Tom van Rompuy take a well-deserved second place. The podium was rounded out by the #23 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin, manned by 'Dudu' Barrichello, Jonny Adam, and Gray Newell.
Over in the LMP2 class, Inter Europol Competition was in a league of its own. They secured a commanding one-two finish with the #43 Oreca-Gibson of Tom Dillmann, Nick Yelloly, and Jakub Smiechowski leading the way ahead of the #343 sister car driven by Nico Müller, Reshad de Gerus, and Bijoy Garg. It was a tough break for the long-time leaders at Duqueine Team, who were forced to retire with brake issues, but for Inter Europol, it marks three wins in four years.
