History beckons at the cathedral of speed for round 10

There is nowhere quite like Assen. The Cathedral of Speed is a venue steeped in more history than any other on the calendar, and it is the perfect stage for the tenth round of this year’s championship. After a stunning victory in the Czech Republic, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) has thrust himself right back into the title conversation. It is a massive swing—the gap is now just 40 points—and he arrives in the Netherlands fresh off a new two-year deal with Ducati. His teammate Francesco Bagnaia is also firmly in the mix, sitting only 13 points behind him as he looks to add to his previous wins here from 2022, 2023, and 2024.

For the Aprilia Racing camp, the pressure is well and truly on. Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi are currently sitting at the top of the standings, but with only eight points between them, they are suddenly looking over their shoulders at the rising tide of red machines. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) is looking for redemption after reliability issues cruelly denied him a strong result on the final lap in Brno. If KTM can solve those technical demons, his raw pace makes him a threat to anyone.

Down the order, there is genuine intrigue elsewhere. Honda HRC showed real signs of life in Brno, with Joan Mir and Luca Marini both securing top-ten finishes. Conversely, it remains a steep climb for Yamaha, as they look to build on a difficult weekend where Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) and Toprak Razgatlioglu struggled to make headway. With a classic, unforgiving layout waiting at Assen, the stage is set for a weekend that could define the season.
