Joan Mir to join Daniel Holgado at BK8 Gresini Racing in 2027
It is official: the 2020 MotoGP World Champion Joan Mir is leaving Honda HRC Castrol to join the BK8 Gresini Racing family in 2027. After four seasons with the Japanese giants, the 28-year-old will bring his 15 podiums to a new garage. He will be joined by Daniel Holgado, creating a lineup that blends the hunger of a rookie with a proven winner’s pedigree.
This is a massive move for Gresini, who have also secured a multi-year deal to keep running Ducati machinery. It is an absolute statement of intent, as the team confirmed that Mir will be on factory-spec Desmosedici equipment, the very same bikes that Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta will be piloting for the Ducati Lenovo Team.
Team owner Nadia Padovani is clear about the mission: they are betting on youth and experience to continue their growth. While they prepare for this new era, the team also acknowledged that it will mark the end of the road for Alex and Fermin. It is a bold, fresh chapter for the squad as they look to build on their partnership with Ducati Corse.
