Johann Zarco eyes September return as surgery is ruled out
It is honestly incredible to see the recovery Johann Zarco is making after his crash in Catalunya. Following a visit to see doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet in Lyon on July 1st, it turns out that the initial diagnosis was far more pessimistic than the reality of the situation. While the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) remains torn, the medial collateral ligament (MCL) is healing well and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is showing signs of recovery that have left the medical team genuinely impressed.
Because of this stunning progress, Zarco is officially bypassing surgery entirely. Instead, he will push forward with a targeted rehabilitation program to strengthen the knee. The Castrol Honda LCR team confirmed that, pending further medical checks, the plan is to have him back on the track in September. It is a massive relief to see the rider making such steady progress after a burn injury delayed his path to recovery.
