Kamui Kobayashi leads the way in Le Mans free practice 2
The second free practice session at the Circuit de la Sarthe proved to be an intense night under the lights, with Kamui Kobayashi snatching the headline with a 3m26.096s lap in the #7 TOYOTA RACING machine. It was not entirely smooth sailing for the team, as Nyck de Vries suffered a spin at the Goodyear Chicane that forced repairs on the car's floor. Behind them, Yifei Ye put the #83 Ferrari 499P of AF Corse in second with a 3m26.316s, just ahead of the #101 Cadillac WTR entry driven by Filipe Albuquerque, who managed third despite a mid-session power loss.
Further down the order, the session saw its share of chaos. Victor Martins secured fourth for the Alpine Endurance Team, while Will Stevens put the #12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA fifth after navigating a late-session puncture. It was a wild night for many, with Toyota’s Brendon Hartley visiting the gravel at the second Mulsanne Chicane and BMW M Team WRT’s Dries Vanthoor getting stuck in the gravel at the Forest Esses.
In the competitive LMGT3 category, Augusto Farfus put the #32 Team WRT M4 on top with a 3m55.132s, leading the #61 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG and the #92 Manthey Porsche. Meanwhile, the LMP2 class saw Esteban Masson lead the way for Forestier Racing by Panis with a 3m33.645s, holding off the #4 CrowdStrike Racing by APR entry. The session ended prematurely for some, specifically the #22 United Autosports machine after Grégoire Saucy faced a braking issue into Indianapolis.
