Marc Marquez is back in the game
The Monster Energy Grand Prix of Czechia was pure magic, and Marc Marquez proved once again why you can never count him out. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider turned the unthinkable into reality with a race win that he admitted was completely unexpected, dragging himself to within 40 points of the championship lead. It is a stunning turnaround for a rider who, just one and a half months ago, was in the hospital and staring down a deficit of more than 100 points. Marc says he is officially back in the game, though he remains focused on surviving Assen before going into full attack mode after the summer break.
Elsewhere, Ai Ogura put in a masterclass for SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team, securing pole position and a pair of second-place finishes. He was clearly the man to beat among the Aprilia contingent, even if he felt there was a little more left in the tank. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia rode a brilliant race to secure P3 for the Ducati Lenovo Team, though he joked that he might need to ask his teammate to let him win one for a change. Bagnaia led the early stages, but a struggle with the front end in the final laps forced him to let the leaders go.
It was a tougher day for others, as Pedro Acosta of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing suffered a heartbreaking retirement on the final lap. Despite the DNF and his earlier crash in the Sprint, Acosta remained pragmatic, insisting he did nothing wrong and leaving the technical analysis to his team. On the other hand, Honda HRC Castrol had a reason to celebrate as Joan Mir took a hard-fought top-five finish. Mir was adamant that he squeezed 150% out of his machine, marking his best Sunday result of the season.
