Ogura magnificent to top Friday at Brno
It is absolutely insane out there in the Czech Republic. We have nineteen riders separated by less than a second, and seven of them managed to go under the previous outright lap record. But above all the chaos, one rider stands tall: Ai Ogura. The Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider threw down a brilliant 1’51.735 to finish the day on top, and honestly, the way he navigated the final minutes was a sight to behold.
It was not all smooth sailing for the grid. Pedro Acosta, riding for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, looked lightning quick before technical gremlins and visible smoke forced him to cut his session short. Marc Marquez suffered an early crash at Turn 11, and Joan Mir also had a late tumble at Turn 7, yet both managed to secure spots in the top ten. Even the reigning World Champion, Francesco Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team, had to fight hard just to stay in the mix.
Everything changed in the final five minutes as the order shifted constantly. Jorge Martin found himself pushed out of the top ten entirely after a late improvement from Diogo Moreira, while Ogura held firm to lead Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi by 0.091s. It is going to be a fascinating Saturday, especially with big names like Martin and Fabio Quartararo forced into Q1.
