Pipo Derani prepares for an emotional homecoming at Interlagos

It is finally happening. After 30 starts in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Pipo Derani will compete on home soil at the Rolex 6 Hours of São Paulo next weekend. For a driver with two IMSA titles and a Rolex 24 At Daytona win to his name, this feels like the one moment he has been waiting for.

Derani rejoined the series this year with the newcomer Genesis Magma Racing. Sharing the #17 GMR-001 with André Lotterer and Mathys Jaubert, he is looking to bounce back from a painful suspension failure at Le Mans. The team has shown flashes of grit, notably at Spa-Francorchamps, and now they aim to turn that potential into a real result in Derani’s own backyard.

Meanwhile, the sister GMR-001 car driven by Mathieu Jaminet, Paul-Loup Chatin, and Daniel Juncadella is also hunting for growth. Despite a power cycle issue at Le Mans, Chatin remains focused on the development phase ahead. With Jaubert, just 21 years old, tackling the iconic Interlagos circuit for the first time, Genesis Magma Racing has a steep but exciting learning curve ahead.
