Statistical breakdown of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season so far

The first half of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign has set the scene for a sensational final four races, with eight different winning crews to-date hinting at an intriguingly unpredictable battle for honours across the board. Here are the statistics of the season so far.

For only the second time in FIA WEC history, four different cars have won the opening four rounds outright. That includes the #8 Toyota at Imola, #20 BMW at Spa-Francorchamps, #7 Toyota at Le Mans, and #15 BMW at Interlagos. Meanwhile, the season has similarly begun with four different LMGT3 winners for the first time. We saw the #69 Team WRT BMW triumph at Imola, the #10 Garage 59 McLaren at Spa, the #33 TF Sport Corvette at Le Mans, and the #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF Corvette at Interlagos. That makes for eight different winners from the first four races, which is unprecedented in the current Hypercar and LMGT3 era.

Also for the first time ever, three separate driving crews in the #8, #20, and #7 cars have led the world championship standings through the opening four rounds. This is the third time that there has been a tie at the top of the title table, sitting level between Robin Frijns and René Rast in the #20 BMW, alongside Toyota’s #7 trio of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries. On the previous two occasions at Fuji in 2019 and Fuji in 2022, the leading line-up has held on to clinch the crown. São Paulo’s Autódromo José Carlos Pace became the first circuit in FIA WEC history to produce five different overall winners in consecutive editions, following Audi in 2013, Porsche in 2014, Toyota in 2024, Cadillac in 2025, and BMW in 2026.

The 8,015 laps completed in São Paulo marked the most ever accrued in a six-hour FIA WEC race. Furthermore, seven different Hypercars led at Interlagos, which is more than at any other event to-date this year, including the #17 Genesis as the Korean newcomer enjoyed its maiden spell at the head of the order. The championship-leading #20 BMW has registered the most dominant success of the season so far by leading for 62.9% of the total distance at Spa. Conversely, that exact same race saw Garage 59’s #10 McLaren triumph without leading a single lap, marking the first time that had occurred in LMGT3.
