Toyota to debut liquid hydrogen-fuelled prototype at Le Mans

This is genuinely wild. Toyota Racing is bringing their TR LH2 Racing Prototype to the Circuit de la Sarthe, and it is going to be running on liquid hydrogen. We are talking about public demonstration laps for a machine built on the same chassis as the race-winning TR010 HYBRID Hypercar, which is the very same weapon Toyota is using to hunt down its sixth outright victory at Le Mans.

Keep your ears open at 12:50 CEST on Thursday, 11 June, and 12:45 CEST on Saturday, 13 June. The beast will take to the 13.626km circuit to show off the sound and sensation of hydrogen combustion. It is a massive step forward for the brand, following their work in the FIA World Rally Championship and Japan’s Super Taikyu series.

If you are heading to the Hydrogen Village starting Wednesday, 10 June, you can see the car up close. After the ORC ROOKIE GR Corolla H2 Concept and the GR H2 Racing Concept, this liquid hydrogen-powered prototype feels like a serious turning point for the future of the sport.
