That is a massive commercial move. Starting in 2027, the series will officially become known as the NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series following a landmark long-term entitlement partnership announced by NASCAR and FedEx Freight.
Here is the thing: it is a remarkably natural fit. You are pairing North America’s largest less-than-truckload carrier with a racing category defined entirely by toughness, relentless competition, and hard racing. For FedEx Freight, which is now operating as a newly independent, publicly traded company, this represents the very first time the brand has backed a sponsorship platform of this absolute scale.
Craig Stimmel, NASCAR's senior vice president and chief commercial officer, pointed out that the investment speaks volumes about the sport's current position and the value it brings. He noted that the series is built on trucks, toughness, and people who compete incredibly hard every single week, matching the grit and reliability embedded in FedEx Freight.
The agreement stretches well beyond a name change on the entry lists. Starting on January 1, 2027, FedEx Freight will also step in as an Official Partner of NASCAR and take the mantle of NASCAR’s exclusive freight shipping partner across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That gives the company a massive year-round national platform to drive brand awareness, handle B2B lead generation, and build community impact.
John Smith, president and CEO of FedEx Freight, emphasized that the partnership supports the company's long-term growth strategy as an independent enterprise. He highlighted that NASCAR and its fanbase share the core commitments to safety, hard work, and reliability that have defined their operations for decades.
The scale of the company behind the brand is staggering. FedEx Freight operates a network of more than 365 locations supported by 40,000 team members and nearly 30,000 vehicles, creating a direct bridge to NASCAR’s footprint across the country. Targeted activation will also focus heavily on key markets surrounding those specific FedEx Freight distribution locations.
For NASCAR, this continues a strong wave of commercial momentum. Major brands are increasingly treating the sport not just as a billboard, but as a functional platform to drive business relationships, employee engagement, and long-term growth. Over the coming years, both organizations plan to develop even more ways to connect fans and team members around their shared commitment to delivering when it matters most.
