There are trophies, and then there are souvenirs. As Motorsport.com reports, rising star Corey Heim walked away from a wild post-race brawl at Martinsville Speedway with a very particular piece of memorabilia: a dented concession menu bearing the words 'A Half Mile of Mayhem'.
The chaos unfolded immediately after the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 late model race at Martinsville Speedway. While Caden Kvapil took the victory, the real drama happened right at the finish line when Heim mused his way past Treyten Lapcevich to snatch second place on the final lap. Contact between the two cars sent them crashing together after the checkered flag had already waved, with Heim's machine famously climbing right up and over the top of Lapcevich's machine.
Things escalated sharply in the infield near the famous hot dog stand. Several members of Treyten Lapcevich's Chad Bryant Racing team—including team owner Chad Bryant himself—converged on Heim for a physical confrontation. Punches were thrown in the melee, pinning Heim back against the menu itself. Despite the aggression from the team, which included a missed punch that left a literal dent in the board right behind his head, Heim chose not to throw any punches back.
Heim initially addressed the chaos on social media with a thumbs-up photo and the caption, "Solid effort, but at least make it count next time." But the story didn't end on the timeline. Heim has now revealed that he managed to secure the battered menu, posting an image of the piece hanging proudly on his wall. It now sits directly beside the grandfather clock he won during his 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory at the very same half-mile venue.
"New office piece," the post's caption read. "Poor thing took a beating this weekend."
It makes for an eccentric chapter in what is already a stellar career trajectory. Heim is firmly establishing himself as a major name in NASCAR, with a full-time seat in the NASCAR Cup Series locked in for 2027 with 23XI Racing. Operating as a part-time driver, he already bagged two astonishing Cup victories this year alone, taking stunning wins at both the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the inaugural running of the San Diego Street Course.
