The iconic Ferrari 499P has taken over Milan Central Station, sitting proudly in the Galleria delle Carrozze until Saturday 7 November, as motorsport.com italia reports. This striking LMH machine, specifically the #51 car, serves as a stunning centerpiece to launch the final countdown to the 6 hours of Monza. It marks the second home race of the season for Ferrari and AF Corse, and a bittersweet farewell for the current configuration of the 499P before it transforms into an updated version for 2027.
Fans and media gathered at the station where Antonio Giovinazzi and #50 driver Antonio Fuoco arrived to kick off the presentations. Giovinazzi reflected on the unique nature of the track and the unwavering support of the Tifosi, noting that while championship contention is out of reach, the goal is to create something special for families, friends, and fans filling the grandstands. Fuoco echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the desire to deliver a fun and memorable weekend despite missing out on the drivers' and constructors' titles.
The #51 entry shared among James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Alessandro Pier Guidi will look for redemption following difficult recent outings. Pier Guidi highlighted the pride of defending Ferrari's colors on home soil, while Calado stressed the absolute need to execute a clean weekend without errors. Meanwhile, the #83 AF Corse entry brings Yifei Ye, Phil Hanson, and Robert Kubica into the fray, alongside Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, who arrive fresh off a podium finish in Barcelona alongside Fuoco.
Molina spoke of feeling the warmth of the Tifosi from inside the cockpit, while Nielsen reminisced about the unforgettable track invasion beneath the podium back in the summer of 2023. Confidence remains high that the 499P will suit the rapid layout of Monza. Behind the scenes, Ferdinando Cannizzo, head of Ferrari endurance race cars, pointed out the technical challenges of the Temple of Speed, noting that November's low temperatures will complicate tire management and warm-ups during qualifying and restarts.
Antonello Coletta, head of Ferrari endurance and corses clienti, emphasized the target of a clean, error-free race in front of a massive crowd. As the season draws to a close, the focus shifts entirely to putting on a show for the supporters who will flood the venue from Friday to Sunday.
