Marc Marquez dominates as the title fight tightens at the Sachsenring
It was a masterclass at the Sachsenring, a place that seems to belong to Marc Marquez. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider claimed his 10th MotoGP win at this iconic venue, securing a clean sweep of maximum points—37 in total—to turn the screw on his rivals. Marc Marquez was clear about his intent: "I said that if I wanted to have some chance in the Championship, then this weekend was attack mode."
The Trackhouse MotoGP Team enjoyed a dream result with both riders claiming spots on the podium. Ai Ogura took second, a result he admitted exceeded his own expectations, while Raul Fernandez secured third. It was a massive performance for the squad, as Ogura noted, "Finishing behind Marc in second position here, I felt like I did my maximum, so I cannot be happier." For Fernandez, the result serves as a reminder to stay grounded: "We need to have our feet on the ground and try to work the entire weekend like this."
Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing continues to manage his championship campaign with a calculated approach. Despite holding a 14-point advantage in the standings, Martin finished fifth on Sunday and remains cautious about his current pace relative to others, stating, "Obviously, I'm not the favourite; at the moment, I think Marc, with the level he is reaching, is the favourite."
It was not a perfect weekend for everyone, however. Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP showed strong form throughout the event, running in second place on Sunday before a crash at the entry to Turn 13 ended his race. "It was a really small mistake, but it was a crash; it was a mistake," Alex Marquez reflected, though he remained encouraged by his return to competitive form following his recent injury.
As the series heads into the summer break, the championship landscape has shifted once more. With only 24 points separating the top five, the intensity is palpable. It is a wild, unpredictable season, and if the Sachsenring is any indication, the second half of the year is going to be an absolute war.
