Marc Marquez takes FP1 top spot by 0.060s over Marco Bezzecchi in Misano

Here's the thing about opening sessions at Misano: they never lie, and Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo Team is already making his presence felt. A late flyer from the #93 secured the top spot in FP1 at the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, leaving home hero and 2025 Misano sparring partner Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing trailing by a razor-thin margin of 0.060s.

That benchmark lap of 1:31.468 also put Marquez 0.133s clear of Raul Fernandez, who put SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team into P3 and gave everyone a proper taste of the competitive order to come. Behind them, Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP and the impressive Johann Zarco of Castrol Honda LCR locked down fourth and fifth respectively to round out the top five.

Further down, Pedro Acosta of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing salvaged P6 despite a dramatic Turn 1 crash with 33 minutes still remaining on the clock. Sandwiched right behind him was Luca Marini of Honda HRC Castrol in P7, which brings us straight to the title-chase leader.

Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing had to settle for P8 in the opening stint. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team endured a rough start to his weekend at a circuit he has conquered before, ending up all the way down in P18 and sitting 0.9s off his teammate Marquez as the paddock looks ahead to the afternoon.

Thankfully, Jack Miller of Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP avoided injury after suffering an early crash at Turn 4 on his out-lap when a cold front tyre suddenly washed out at the start of the weekend. Next up, the action resumes with Practice at 3 pm local time (UTC +2).
