So, Ugo Ugochukwu is the 2026 Drivers' Champion. The Campos Racing driver outduelled his rival Freddie Slater to take the crown in Madrid, wiping out a 15-point deficit across a wild weekend.
Now, you could look at the whole campaign—the dominant victories, the seven podiums, and the eye-catching overtakes—but one afternoon in Monza stands out as the real turning point. Ugochukwu arrived in Italy trailing by eight points after losing his standings lead in Budapest. A messy Friday put him towards the back while Slater took pole, and things went from bad to worse on Sunday when his teammate Théophile Nael tagged him into a spin. Dropped to last, the 19-year-old American started an incredible fightback while the TRIDENT machine of his rival began struggling with an issue and dropping through the field. Ugochukwu fought all the way to eighth at the chequered flag, leaving Italy just 15 points behind when a 40-point deficit had looked entirely possible.

Ugochukwu parked himself within the DRS of Taponen for much of the race, never giving Clerot a sniff of an opportunity, and safely crossed the line in second.
With Slater fighting back to seventh, Ugochukwu had done it. He sealed the 2026 FIA Formula 3 title by 14 points, having scored more points than anyone else from Melbourne to Madrid.
