As Motorsport.com Italia reports, Jorge Martin has officially received a fit-to-review status ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, meaning the Aprilia rider will take part in FP1 before facing a fresh medical evaluation. It is a tense and narrow path for the Spaniard at Lusail, the third-to-last round of the 2026 MotoGP season. Mathematics still keep him mathematically in the fight for the title, even though Marc Marquez can slam the door on the championship this weekend by outscoring the Aprilia rider by 30 points to secure his tenth crown.
That championship battle took a brutal turn during the Sprint at Phillip Island when Martin crashed and suffered a non-displaced fracture of the distal radius in his right hand. He tried to muscle through the pain at Sepang, but after managing only a handful of laps between Friday and Saturday, he stepped away from his machine before Q1. A fast flight back to Spain followed, and he spent the days since Sunday grinding away at home recovery. Now, Dr. Angel Charte and his medical team have allowed him to roll out for the opening session, after which they will re-examine him to decide whether to clear him for the remainder of the weekend.
Meanwhile, Raul Fernandez and Fermin Aldeguer carry no such restrictions and hold full clearance for the entire event. Fernandez lines up for Trackhouse Racing despite a fractured right index finger—the exact digit he relies on for braking—which forced him to withdraw in Malaysia after only participating in FP1. His team confirmed via a short statement that the championship medical staff checked the injury at the Lusail International Circuit and passed him fit to race.
Fermin Aldeguer receives total clearance as well, returning to action after missing the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika due to a right-hand fracture that also kept him sidelined through Australia and Malaysia.
Elsewhere on the grid, the Gresini Racing garage is missing Alex Marquez, who used the break to undergo surgery on the right collarbone he broke back in May at Barcelona. Iker Lecuona steps up to pilot the Ducati for the reigning vice-champion. Over at Honda HRC, another physical absence forces a substitution: Jake Dixon replaces Joan Mir after the 2020 champion suffered a recurrence of the vision and vertigo issues that have forced him out of competition since Misano.
