Martin Brundle has successfully buried the hatchet with Kim Kardashian after securing an interview on the grid ahead of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, as Crash.net reports. The American reality TV star made headlines earlier this season during her first paddock visit at the Monaco Grand Prix by famously snubbing the broadcaster when he attempted to speak with her. Now, making her second appearance at an F1 race to support her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton, the 45-year-old finally gave Brundle his moment.
“Did I not know the rules? Did we get off on the wrong foot?” Kardashian asked Brundle on the grid before Sunday’s 62-lap race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. She went on to describe the sport as amazing, fun, and wild, adding that it is something she has never seen before. Speaking about Hamilton, she noted that he is in great form, stating, “I'm just praying for the best tonight. [Lewis is] very confident, and so am I. Just got to pray for the best.”
Kim and Khloe, so we're not talking today. I was led to believe they might do.
That second chance stands in stark contrast to their awkward first encounter in Monaco. Back then, Brundle approached her on the grid, saying, “Kim, Martin Brundle from Sky F1. How are you today?” After offering a brief smile, Kardashian simply turned away to speak with a member of her entourage. Brundle was caught on audio telling someone out of shot, “You don't need to push me, mate. Yeah, normally people will have a quick chat with us.”
A second attempt in Monaco also fell flat when Brundle politely asked, “Are you enjoying F1?”, which prompted another member of Kardashian’s entourage to shake his head and seemingly wave the broadcaster away. Accepting defeat at the time, Brundle walked off with the remark, “Kim and Khloe, so we're not talking today. I was led to believe they might do.”
Thankfully, the tension is now firmly in the past following their Singapore exchange. On the track itself, Hamilton starts from third on the grid for the race, lining up behind Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who claimed pole position.
