Now, this is quite the step up. Paysafe Envision Formula E Team have officially confirmed that Zak O’Sullivan is stepping into a full-time race seat for the 2026/27 Formula E season, locking in their driver line-up for Season 13.
It is a natural progression after a year spent embedded within the outfit. O'Sullivan has spent the last year handling development work, simulator duties, and stepping into the car for several rookie tests. His very first run with the squad came ahead of the Season 11 Jeddah E-Prix during the Rookie Free Practice session.
Since that initial outing, the 21-year-old has driven the GEN3 Evo on three further occasions during Season 12—running in Berlin, Miami, and Madrid. He even topped the timesheets during the Miami E-Prix rookie session.
“I am very excited to be joining the team full-time for the upcoming season,” O'Sullivan said. “I’ve spent the last year embedding myself into the team and can’t wait to get the season started in the new GEN4 car. Formula E is a championship I’ve had my sights set on for a long time, so to be joining the grid for Season 13 at such an exciting time for the sport is a great feeling.”
His resume holds serious weight. After a karting career filled with victories, the British driver narrowly missed out on the 2020 British Formula 4 title before claiming the GB3 Championship the following year. Two seasons in FIA Formula 3 brought four victories and the championship runner-up spot in 2023, which led straight to an FIA Formula 2 campaign in 2024 featuring standout wins in Monaco and Spa-Francorchamps. He has also expanded his horizons in Japanese Super Formula.
Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO of the Paysafe Envision Formula E Team, shared his confidence in the young driver: “We’ve spent a lot of time with him during Season 12, and he has established himself in the team very well. We have been very impressed with Zak’s performance, both on the track during the rookie sessions, and his commitment off-track.”
