It is a fresh chapter for the British-based Paysafe Envision Formula E Team, bringing in a new Title Partner and an entirely new driver line-up for the 2026/27 season. This campaign marks the very beginning of the GEN4 era, and the squad has secured the services of former DS PENSKE driver and race winner Maximilian Günther on a multi-year contract.
Over eight seasons in the championship, Günther has climbed to the top step of the podium seven times. His maiden victory famously made him the championship's youngest-ever race winner, a record only recently beaten by Taylor Barnard. Unfortunately, the 2025/26 campaign proved difficult for the German driver, ending with an 18th place finish in the Drivers' standings, a total of 23 points, and a best result of sixth. A reset with a new outfit is arriving at just the right moment.
I’m very happy to become a Paysafe Envision Formula E driver for the GEN4 era and I really look forward to our future together,
Now, he gets to handle the GEN4, which stands as Formula E's fastest machine to date. This beast is capable of hitting speeds above 335kph, accelerating from 0 to 100kph in roughly 1.8 seconds, and covering 0 to 200kph in a mere 4.4 seconds—making it 1.5 seconds quicker than the car that came before it. In race mode, the GEN4 delivers 50% more power than the current GEN3 Evo machine, while qualifying mode boasts an average pace that is 10 seconds faster per lap than the GEN3 model. When deployed, ATTACK MODE unleashes up to 600kW of power, translating to a 71% increase in base output over the GEN3 Evo and pushing electric racing to its absolute limits. On top of all that, the GEN4 remains the only single-seater race car featuring permanent all-wheel drive.
“I’m very happy to become a Paysafe Envision Formula E driver for the GEN4 era and I really look forward to our future together,” Maximilian Günther stated. “The team has a very successful history in Formula E and exceptional quality throughout the organisation. Our aim is to combine our strengths and achieve great success, competing at the very top. I truly believe we have all the ingredients to build something really special together. What convinced me about the project was the great environment, the high ambition of the team, the mindset and, of course, the excellent technical package together with Jaguar. I’m proud to become part of the team and have a fantastic feeling about our future.”
Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director & CTO of Paysafe Envision Formula E Team, shared the enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to announce Max as our newest driver at Paysafe Envision Formula E Team. Season 13 is going to be an important year for all teams; learning the GEN4 car as well as a new sporting format, which is going to put an even bigger focus on outright pace and speed. Max has proven how capable he is at delivering qualifying laps when it matters, as well as podium finishes and race wins. We’re incredibly excited to start working with him and hit the ground running at pre-season testing in November.”
