Here's the thing: the Chase presented by Mobil 1 is rolling hard into the Queen City, bringing massive championship pressure with it. The NASCAR Cup Series, O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Craftsman Truck Series are descending on Charlotte Motor Speedway for a massive trio of postseason races. Believe it or not, this marks the first time since 2017 that these fall festivities at Charlotte will unfold on the 1.5-mile oval.
Thankfully, every single entry gets a shot at the track. Thirty-nine cars are entered in the Cup Series, 38 entries are locked into the O’Reilly Series, and 36 trucks make up the field in the Craftsman Truck Series. That means absolutely no entries will fail to qualify for the North Carolina tilts.
Let's talk about the schedule for these machines. In the Craftsman Truck Series, single-truck qualifying gets the weekend started early at 2:05 p.m. ET on Friday, broadcast live on FS2.
Action continues on Saturday with the remaining sessions. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series takes over the track for single-car qualifying at 11:35 a.m. ET on Saturday, available on ESPN Unlimited. Shortly after, the premier Cup Series machines hit the asphalt for their own single-car qualifying session at 2:05 p.m. ET on Saturday, shown on truTV.
Keep a sharp eye out for the designation markers across the entry lists. The symbol for drivers required to qualify on time, the # symbol denoting series rookies, the (i) tag for drivers ineligible for driver points, and the (C) marker for Chase drivers and participants will all shape how these grids are finalized.
