Here's the thing about this weekend's battle at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway: the stakes are getting real. On Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series returns to action for the Blue Cross NC 300, broadcasting across The CW, ESPN Unlimited, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. This 300-mile showdown marks the 29th points-paying event overall, and crucially, it is the fifth of nine races making up The Chase presented by Mobil 1.
At the very top of the standings, Haas Factory Team driver Sheldon Creed continues to set the pace. He enters the Queen City holding a 19-point advantage over JR Motorsports driver Carson Kvapil. That is a solid cushion, but in this field, it can vanish in a single corner.
Further down the pit lane, we have some interesting appearances locked in for the weekend. Carson Brown is stepping up for his second career O'Reilly Auto Parts Series start, piloting the No. 32 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet. You might remember his debut earlier this year at Iowa Speedway, where he brought the machine home in 15th place.
We are also seeing the return of Austin Green to the O'Reilly Series. This will be his first appearance since Sonoma Raceway back in late June, where he will take the wheel of the No. 87 Peterson Racing Chevrolet.
All told, thirty-eight cars are officially entered into this weekend's Charlotte event, setting the stage for a massive grid ready to tackle the speedway. Be ready for a wild afternoon of racing as the championship fight heats up under the Charlotte sun.
