Here is the thing about a masterclass: you know it is happening the moment the lights go out. That is exactly what Theophile Nael delivered in Madrid, dominating the Sprint Race to take his third win of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season and securing fastest lap along the way.
Starting from second on Forestry soil, the Campos Racing driver wasted no time. He completely out-launched reverse grid polesitter James Wharton off the line, snatching the crucial lead right as they funneled into Turn 1.
Wharton, driving for PREMA Racing, tried to bite back. It looked like he had a move successfully completed into Turn 5, but he unfortunately overshot the chicane. That mistake forced him to hand the position straight back before the lap was even over.
From that exact moment onward, Nael was entirely untroubled. He simply put his head down, strung together a series of fastest laps, and drove away to cap off a truly dominant victory.

Behind him, Wharton crossed the line to secure P2, marking his second podium finish of the year. Meanwhile, Wharton's PREMA team mate Alex Powell claimed P3, taking his maiden visit to the F3 rostrum in only his second weekend in the Championship.
Down in the fierce championship battle, Ugo Ugochukwu managed to add three potentially important points to his tally. The American driver pushed his total up to 129 points, closing the gap to leader Freddie Slater down to just 12 ahead of the first Feature Race later on Saturday.
Grid positions for that upcoming race are set to shake things up further, with Ugochukwu slated to start from ninth while Slater faces a steep climb from P17 following a tough Qualifying 1 session.
