What an absolute thriller. Chase Briscoe managed to take victory in Sunday's NASCAR Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, hanging on by the skin of his teeth after getting door-slammed by teammate Christopher Bell right at the exit of the final corner, as Motorsport.com reports.
That chaotic dash to the checker yielded a gap of just 0.029s clear of Bell. It stands as the closest finish of the 2026 Cup season so far, and the second-closest finish in the entire history of NASCAR Cup racing at Charlotte, sitting just behind the famous 2005 Coke 600 finish between Jimmie Johnson and Bobby Labonte which remains number one at 0.027s.
Behind the frantic battle for the win, Ryan Blaney led the way for Ford in third place. Josh Berry came home fourth, while Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five in fifth.
It was a tougher afternoon for Kyle Larson, who finished outside the top five for the first time during the entire Chase in sixth position. Even so, he still managed to add a few points to his championship lead. Shane van Gisbergen proved he could handle the oval just fine too, taking a seventh-place finish after winning at the Charlotte Roval one year ago this fall.

Over the course of 400 miles of racing, the field dealt with six cautions totaling 33 laps. The lead changed hands 11 times between just five drivers. Larson paced the field for the most laps at 97, Bell led 93, Briscoe managed 62, Wallace led 11, and Blaney led four.
When the dust finally settled, four drivers recorded DNFs, all of them due to accidents. Yet despite the chaos, 27 of the 39 starters managed to bring their machines home on the lead lap.
