Mother Nature has completely rewritten the weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with NASCAR officials confirming the cancellation of all Saturday on-track activities due to inclement weather brought by Hurricane Isaias. When the skies open up like this, the machines stay silent and the entire schedule gets thrown into absolute chaos.
That means the Blue Cross NC 300, serving as the fifth of nine Chase presented by Mobil 1 races in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, has been pushed to a new slot. It will now run on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, taking place right after the NASCAR Cup Series race, with coverage available on The CW, ESPN Unlimited, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. It is a major shift from the original 4 p.m. ET green flag that was slated for Saturday.
It was not just the O'Reilly series taking a hit, either. Cup Series practice and qualifying were completely washed out. This follows an earlier Friday adjustment that had bumped practice up to 11 a.m. ET and qualifying to 12:05 p.m. ET in a failed bid to beat the weather. With those sessions lost, the starting grid has been set via the NASCAR Rule Book. It marks the fourth time in six Chase races that the lineup has had to be determined by the metric.
Thankfully, Sunday’s upcoming Cup race—the sixth of 10 in The Chase—remains firmly scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. Fans can catch that one on USA Network, HBO Max, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio as things hopefully get back on track at the speedway.
