Now, that is how you set the tone for a Saturday. The final 60-minute practice session for the Hypercar class at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya delivered a proper fight at the sharp end, run out under warm and sunny conditions for the 17-car field.
At the very top of the timing sheets, Antonio Fuoco wrestled the #50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P to a peak lap of 1m31.206s. That blistering effort was just enough to outpace the chasing pack, though only by a slender 0.015s margin. That challenger was none other than the #19 Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001, with Daniel Juncadella stepping up to lay down the quickest time for the Korean manufacturer.
Right behind the top two, Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA kept its impressive pace rolling across both single-lap dashes and heavier fuel stints. The #38 Cadillac V-Series.R—shared by Earl Bamber, Sébastien Bourdais, and Jack Aitken—finished the session in third, sitting just 0.2 off Fuoco’s leading benchmark. Meanwhile, their sister car, the #12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA entry, locked down fifth as the returning Alex Lynn continues to re-familiarize himself with a machine he has not raced since the 2025 season finale in Bahrain.
Splitting the Cadillacs in fourth place was the #009 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie, stopping the clocks at 1m31.361s through the combined efforts of Marco Sørensen and local ace Alex Riberas. Rounding out the top six, the #35 Alpine Endurance Team A424 of Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi showed a massive step forward in pace after enduring a rather tricky opening pair of sessions.
The rest of the top ten filled out with the #83 AF Corse Ferrari in seventh, the #36 Alpine in eighth, the #15 BMW in ninth, and the #007 Aston Martin rounding things out in tenth.
Thankfully, the sixty minutes ran cleanly without any major disasters. The only interruption was a brief excursion into the gravel by Paul Di Resta aboard the #93 Team Peugeot TotalEnergies 9X8, which prompted a short wave of yellow flags before normal service resumed. Action at the Spanish venue continues with Hypercar qualifying and Hyperpole at 15:40 local time (CEST).
