Here we go again: for the third consecutive season, the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship comes down to a final-round thriller. The Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in Andalucia hosts the Pirelli Spanish Round, and it marks a bittersweet milestone as the final event featuring Yamaha equipping the class. From 2027 onwards, CFMOTO takes over propelling the category forward.
At the sharp end of the standings, Maria Herrera (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR) holds all the cards with a massive advantage. The #6 sits 44 points clear of Beatriz Neila (Ampito Crescent Yamaha) with only 50 points left on the table. Herrera needs just a top-ten finish in Race 1 on Saturday to secure her second World Championship. She arrives hot after taking 45 out of 50 possible points back in July at Donington Park, alongside a strong history at Jerez that includes victories in 2024 and 2025. Neila, meanwhile, needs a miracle: she must win and rely on an error from the leader to keep her title hopes alive. The Madrid native was sent into the grass following contact with Herrera at Donington, but she bounced back immediately with a Race 2 triumph on Sunday and will undoubtedly push the fight all the way to Sunday.
Just behind the title protagonists, a fierce battle brews for the final step of the podium. Roberta Ponziani (Klint Racing Team) holds a razor-thin one-point margin over her rookie teammate Paola Ramos. The Spanish rookie has bagged two wins this year, though inconsistency and bad luck have hurt her campaign, including a crash out at Donington Park following contact with Herrera. Ponziani has played the long game with impressive consistency, finishing every completed race between third and sixth.
Further down the order, Muklada Sarapuech (Yamaha AD78 FIMLA by EEST NJT Racing) and Chloe Jones (Monster Energy Crescent Yamaha) sit further back in the fight for the top five. The Thai rookie arrives at a circuit she has never raced before, while Jones looks to recapture the podium form she found at Misano. Meanwhile, Pakita Ruiz (PR46+1 Racing Team) leads a tight midfield group from seventh to eleventh as she races on home soil, closely pursued by Yvonne Cerpa (MotosCerpa-Gradara Corse), Natalia Rivera (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team), Sara Sanchez (Hadden Racing Team), and Astrid Madrigal (Pons Italika Racing FIMLA).
The grid also sees several changes for the finale. Joy Bruno steps in to replace Karolina Danak at Prata Motor Sport, and Carla Mulot pilots the GMT94 Yamaha machine in place of the injured Lucie Boudesseul. Wildcards Sara Varon and Avalon Lewis (Carl Cox Motorsports) round out the entries, though Lewis faces a medical checkup before hitting the track.
