The Fim Supersport World Championship is rolling into the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in Andalucia for the Pirelli Spanish Round, and while the major crowns are already spoken for, the rest of the order is an absolute pressure cooker. Albert Arenas, riding for the AS BLU CRU Racing Team, completely dominated the 2026 Riders' Championship by securing it in Race 1 at Estoril, whilst simultaneously locking down the Teams' and Manufacturers' titles for a clean sweep for Yamaha. Valentin Debise of the EASTROC ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing squad finished the job in second for his Chinese manufacturer's debut season in the class.
That leaves the bronze medal of the Riders' Championship hanging wildly in the balance with a ferocious three-way dogfight. Can Oncu of Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing currently holds third by a razor-thin five points over Jaume Masia from Orelac Racing VerdNatura and Jeremy Alcoba of the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team. Oncu endured a chaotic time in Portugal, binning it from the lead in Race 1 to limp home P21, only to bounce back with an absolute menace of a drive to P4 in Race 2. The #61 rider attacks Turn 1 rain or shine, and with a third and a fourth here last year, he is primed for another brutal podium scrap.
His rivals for third, Masia and Alcoba, are sitting completely level on 229 points apiece. Alcoba brings serious momentum after his first career double at Cremona and a scorching Race 1 P3 and Race 2 win at Estoril, alongside a P2 finish here last season. Masia, however, is sweating on his fitness after being diagnosed with a partially fractured second metatarsal in his left foot, compounded by a dry spell missing the podium over the last three rounds. Even so, the Valencian won the opening race here in 2025, making this three-way war genuinely too close to call.
Further down the pit lane, Tom Booth-Amos of PTR Triumph Factory Racing is hunting down the Pirelli Best Lap award, where he is currently tied with Debise. Booth-Amos bagged a win in the opening race at Estoril before crashing out ahead of the red-flag restart in Race 2, yet he remains within 17 points of third to keep a dark-horse bronze finish alive. Behind them, Roberto Garcia of GMT94 Yamaha sits in P7, though he needs the medical center's green light after Oncu clattered into his right leg in Race 2 at Estoril, leaving him with a sprain and a contusion.
Philipp Oettl of the Feel Racing WorldSSP Team is lurking just five points behind Garcia in P8. Oettl's results have settled into the lower half of the top ten, but his consistency is staggering, and he brings past Jerez podium pedigree from 2020 and 2021 on Kawasaki machinery. Matteo Ferrari of WRP Racing leads the tail end of the top ten, carrying past MotoE podium form from Jerez, while Lucas Mahias of GMT94 Yamaha sits right behind him after finding a new gear at Estoril with front-running pace and back-to-back fifth places. Alessandro Zaccone of the Ecosantagata Althea Racing Team and WorldSSP sophomore Aldi Mahendra of the AS BLU CRU Racing Team round out the fierce squabbles filling the lower half of the points.
We are also seeing fresh blood and returning faces in the paddock. Jorge Navarro steps back into the PTR Triumph Factory Racing setup to replace Oli Bayliss after an impressive P7 debut at Magny-Cours. Eric Fernandez of the Cerba Yamaha Racing Team returns for his second round after showing blistering pace by leading Race 1 at Estoril before crashing out of both outings. Hector Garzo aims to return from the wrist contusion and functional impairment that kept him unfit at Estoril, ready to race on home tarmac if cleared.
