What a day at the Circuito Estoril. When the dust settled on Race 1, Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) brought home a fourth-place finish, and with it, the crown as the 2026 WorldSSP Riders' Champion. Yes, the #75 got the job done, sealing the title in style while the rest of the field tore the place apart.
At the sharp end of the grid, PTR Triumph Factory Racing ran absolute riot. Tom Booth-Amos drove a stunning race to take his third FIM Supersport World Championship win, holding off his teammate Oli Bayliss by a razor-thin 0.075 seconds. That makes it three career rostrum results for the Australian. Behind them, Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) pulled off a brilliant late charge to steal the final step of the podium, finishing 0.147 seconds off the winner.
It wasn't an easy ride to the championship for Arenas, who had to watch early drama unfold around him. Lucas Mahias (GMT94 Yamaha) grabbed P1 off the line, while Can Oncu (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) and Eric Fernandez (Cerba Yamaha Racing Team) threw heavy punches on the opening lap. But the race bit back hard: Oncu saw his front tyre give way from the lead at Turn 9 on Lap 4, and Fernandez crashed out at Turn 2 on the very next lap. Arenas had already climbed into the podium spots by Lap 4, but as the laps wound down, the #75 settled into a smart defensive drive to secure the championship points.
Yamaha completely swept the tables on Saturday, locking down all three world titles. Alongside Arenas's riders' crown, Aldi Mahendra and the #75 bagged the Teams' Championship for AS BLU CRU Racing Team, and Yamaha officially clinched their 12th WorldSSP Manufacturers' Championship.
Further down the order, the recovery drives were nothing short of heroic. Starting way back in P17, Valentin Debise (EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory) fell as low as P22 on the opening lap before putting his head down to charge all the way to P6. Roberto García (Yamaha) pulled off a similarly wild recovery from a P19 qualification to finish P7, while also setting the fastest lap of the race at 1'39.444s. Lucas Mahias hung on for P11 and 11 points, while Alessandro Zaccone (Ecosantagata Althea Racing Team) cracked the top ten for the first time since his home round at Misano. Ondrej Vostatek (Compos Racing Team) took P9, and Philipp Oettl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team) ground his way from P15 to finish P10.
Not everyone saw the chequered flag, though. Dominique Aegerter (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) was on course for his second-strongest result of the season from a season-best P8 start, only to slide out at Turn 8 on Lap 13.
