Here is some brilliant news for the paddock: Alberto Surra is staying put. Motocorsa Racing has officially announced that they are keeping their exciting rookie on board for his sophomore campaign, extending their collaboration through the 2027 season ahead of the Tissot Estoril Round action at Circuito Estoril.
Surra has proven to be one of the most successful rookie riders in the 2026 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season, developing right before our eyes and finishing more frequently in the top five. Most recently, he landed his first-ever WorldSBK podium and spent the entire weekend battling top Independent riders like Yari Montella of the Barni Spark Racing Team and Sam Lowes of the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team for third place.
I’m super happy about this news and to officially confirm that I’ll be riding for Motocorsa Racing for another season,
It is an incredible trajectory for a rider who only dropped into the WorldSSP paddock in the latter half of the 2025 season. Back then, he was filling in for an injured Aldi Mahendra of the AS BLU CRU Racing Team, who was riding at the time for the Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team. Surra hit the ground running with a maiden podium in his debut race at Magny-Cours, and apart from a Race 2 DNF in France, he finished in the top ten in every single race he competed in that season. That stunning performance caught the eye of the Motocorsa Racing squad, and despite riding only seven races in the paddock last season, their gamble has paid off spectacularly.
“I’m super happy about this news and to officially confirm that I’ll be riding for Motocorsa Racing for another season,” Surra said on his renewal. “I can’t wait to keep improving my results and to do it together with Lorenzo and the whole team, which has now become a second family to me. Full speed ahead, and hopefully we can achieve even more in 2027!”
Motocorsa Racing’s Team Manager Lorenzo Mauri shares that exact enthusiasm for the signing. “We are extremely happy to continue our relationship with Alberto in 2027,” Mauri stated. “The 2026 season has given us so much: we have got to know each other, faced important moments together and built a relationship based on great mutual trust. Third place in the Superpole Race at Cremona was certainly one of the highlights of our season and demonstrated the potential of what we can achieve together. For us, it was important to ensure continuity for this project. Alberto has shown great professionalism, commitment and a constant desire to improve, and we are convinced that the experience he has gained during his first year in WorldSBK will be extremely valuable heading into 2027. We are therefore delighted to have him with us again and cannot wait to begin this new season together.”
