Max Verstappen has backed up his first victory of the 2026 season by seizing pole position for the Singapore Sprint. Under the lights at the Marina Bay Circuit, the Dutchman delivered a stunning final lap to lock down the top spot, though his result hangs in the balance pending a stewards' investigation for a potential yellow flag infringement in SQ1.
Following a busy session where four teams appeared closely matched in Free Practice, Verstappen timed his definitive run to absolute perfection. His effort on the soft tyres stopped the clock at 1m 31.156s, leaving him 0.120s clear of Mercedes driver George Russell. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc slotted into P3, finishing a further tenth back from the Mercedes machine.
Behind the leading trio, the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris claimed P4 and P5 respectively. Piastri missed Leclerc's benchmark by a razor-thin 0.055s, while Lewis Hamilton steered the second Ferrari to sixth. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli followed in seventh, ahead of Racing Bull's Liam Lawson in eighth, and the top 10 was rounded out by Isack Hadjar for Red Bull and Alpine's Pierre Gasly, both of whom suffered deleted lap times in SQ3.

Further down the order, Alpine's Franco Colapinto narrowly missed the SQ3 cut after a late improvement from Russell pushed him down to P11. Nico Hulkenberg brought his Audi home in P12, followed by the Haas pairing of Ollie Bearman in P13 and Esteban Ocon in P16, sandwiching Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto in P14 and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso in P15.
Arvid Lindblad settled for P17 after missing out on an SQ2 appearance, sitting just ahead of Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll. The backmarkers lagged half a second further back, led by Alex Albon in P19 for Williams and Valtteri Bottas in P20. Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez share the final row for Saturday’s 21-lap affair, with Perez bringing out an early red flag after smacking the barrier in the opening minutes.
