Now, this is a significant shift for the paddock. The FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) and Yamaha are set to conclude their partnership at the conclusion of the 2026 season, bringing a three-year chapter to a close.
Yamaha has been there from day one, playing a central role in getting WorldWCR onto the tarmac back in 2024. They supplied the Yamaha R7 motorcycles that served as the foundational machinery for the entire championship through its first three seasons, establishing a fresh platform inside the WorldSBK paddock and putting female riders on the world stage.
Since the lights went out for the opening round at Misano in June 2024, the series has welcomed 55 riders across 25 nationalities, mixing established racers with rising talent. The record books already show Ana Carrasco taking the inaugural title in 2024, with Maria Herrera following up by claiming the 2025 crown.
The championship has formally extended its gratitude to everyone at Yamaha alongside technical partner JiR for their dedication, technical know-how, and backing of the teams and riders.
Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director, said: “When we launched WorldWCR, our ambition was to give more female riders the opportunity to compete at World Championship level and show what they could do. Yamaha believed in that ambition from the beginning and helped make it possible.”
Lavilla added: “We would like to thank everyone at Yamaha and JiR for the commitment and hard work they have brought to these first three seasons. Together, we have created opportunities for riders, celebrated new champions and given fans new names to follow. As WorldWCR prepares for its next chapter, we remain committed to building on that work and helping more female talent progress in the sport.”
