Team Penske and Chevrolet have locked in their future together, announcing a multiyear extension of a partnership that defines success in the NTT IndyCar SERIES. It is an alliance built on sheer dominance, spanning decades and yielding some of the most iconic moments in motorsport history.
That heritage of winning includes nine victories in the Indianapolis 500 with a staggering list of drivers: Rick Mears, Emerson Fittipaldi, Helio Castroneves, Juan Pablo Montoya, Will Power, Simon Pagenaud, and Josef Newgarden. Roger Penske noted that the relationship extends far beyond the racetrack, praising Chevrolet as a terrific partner both on and off the track.
The numbers behind this machine are simply wild. Since officially joining forces for the 1986 IndyCar SERIES season with a manufacturer-backed relationship, Team Penske and Chevrolet have visited Victory Lane 125 times and captured 157 pole positions. That total includes Scott McLaughlin’s NTT P1 Award in September at Laguna Seca, which marked Chevrolet’s 250th IndyCar SERIES pole position.
The roots of this collaboration run even deeper than the modern era. Team Penske first began competing in IndyCar with legendary driver Mark Donohue driving a Chevrolet-powered Eagle in the USAC-sanctioned race June 15, 1968, at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
“For decades, Team Penske and Chevrolet have had one of the strongest competitive relationships in all of motorsport, built on a foundation of trust, a shared commitment to technical excellence, and a relentless focus on winning,” General Motors President Mark Reuss said.
The 2026 NTT IndyCar SERIES campaign offered another showcase of this powerhouse pairing, opening with the pole position on the streets of St. Petersburg and capping the season with a win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Over the course of the year, Team Penske added victories at Phoenix Raceway, World Wide Technology Raceway, and Laguna Seca, alongside three pole positions.
Penske’s pact is part of a massive week for the manufacturer, joining extension agreements announced with Arrow McLaren and Ecr. Looking ahead, the journey continues when the 2027 NTT IndyCar SERIES season starts Sunday, March 7 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
