As Speedcafe reports, the provisional 2027 WorldSBK calendar has just dropped, and it brings massive changes, featuring 12 rounds spanning nine countries and three continents. The big shock is how the season wraps up: Shanghai International Circuit will host the championship's debut visit from October 29-31 as the final round of the year. Before the series heads to China for that season finale, Estoril handles the final European event from October 15-17. The calendar also marks the return of Michelin as the single tyre supplier for the championship for the first time since 2003.
Down Under, the 2027 season kicks off at the historic 4.445km seaside circuit of Phillip Island, which hosts the opening round from February 19-21, preceded by the traditional pre-season test on February 15-16. This will be the 36th time WorldSBK has visited the venue since 1990, the 19th time it has hosted the season opener, and brings its total tally to 76 races held by the end of the 2026 season—holding the record for the most races staged at a single venue in championship history. Unfortunately, it is also a farewell: this will be the final WorldSBK visit to Phillip Island before Australia's round moves to South Australia and The Bend (Shell V-Power Motorsport Park) from 2028.
There is massive local interest for the 2027 Australian round, as two compatriots will line up on the grid full-time for the first time since the 2016 season when Josh Brookes and Josh Hook represented Australia. Jack Miller makes the switch from MotoGP to WorldSBK with the Pata Maxus Yamaha squad, joining Remy Gardner, who returns for a fifth season with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team. It will be the first time the pair race together in the championship.
Following the opener, the series moves to Europe, beginning at Portimão from March 19-21. That Portuguese round will also launch the campaigns for the World Sportbike Championship and FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, following their official pre-season test at the track on March 15. Valencia returns from April 2-4 for the first time since 2010, reviving a venue that hosted 22 races between 2000 and 2010. Assen follows from April 16-18, and MotorLand Aragón takes the second Spanish round from May 21-23. Notably, Jerez misses out on the 2027 calendar due to renovation work.
Heading into the summer, Autodrom Most shifts to June 4-6, Misano takes its turn from June 18-20, and Donington Park hosts the final European round before the mid-season break from July 9-11. The action resumes at Magny-Cours from September 3-5, moves to Cremona from September 24-26, and hits Estoril before the final Asian leg. Throughout the year, the FIM World Supersport Championship accompanies WorldSBK at all 12 rounds, while the World Sportbike Championship tackles eight rounds and the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship contests six.
