Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) has wrapped up the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship early, sealing the crown with a brilliant podium finish at the Circuito Estoril. It is an absolute masterclass of a rookie campaign in the paddock, built entirely on relentless consistency against a staggering field featuring a record-setting nine different race winners.
Now, while rivals such as Valentin Debise (EASTROC ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing) might have bagged more race wins over the course of the season, Arenas brought a level of composure that simply could not be matched. The #75 machine hunted down 16 podium finishes out of 21 races, an astonishing haul that included 11 P2s and three wins. Even when others had the outright pace, Arenas kept himself locked to the rostrum and prevented any major points swings.
The early rounds were fierce, with Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) flying out of the gates for the opening three rounds while Arenas sat behind his countryman in P2 with a win and three podiums. The turning point arrived at Balaton Park, where Arenas seized the championship lead with a Race 1 P2 after Masia crashed out of the contest. Aside from a bronze medal and a controversial Race 2 crash following contact with the #5 at Most, Arenas then went on a punishing six-race streak where he never finished lower than P2, highlighted by a Race 2 victory at Misano.
Looking back to February, when the 2020 Moto3 World Championship winner entered his maiden WorldSSP races as a rookie with a weather-abridged preseason of testing, the doubts were very real. But he answered every question on the track. In doing so, he etches his name alongside elite company, joining Dominique Aegerter (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team), Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha), Sandro Cortese, and Cal Crutchlow as riders who took the Supersport World Championship in their very first full season.
